A quiet, charming bedroom community fit for nature lovers, just 15 minutes north of Brantford. Paris is depicted by many who walk its cobblestone streets as "the prettiest town in Canada.”

The Cobblestone Capital

Paris, formerly called "Forks of the Grand," is now known as “the prettiest town in Canada.” The historic cobblestone buildings throughout downtown Paris are host to a varied mix of shops, restaurants, and entertainment that attracts thousands of visitors each year. Hidden amongst the town is Barker’s Bush, a historic network of walking and biking trails in the rare Carolinian forest accessible through Lion’s Park. Overlooking the Grand River, Paris is fitting for those with a passion for nature and a lively community.

Paris is at the junction of where the Nith River meets the Grand River in Southern Ontario. The town was settled by Hiram Capron, who helped establish one of Upper Canada's earliest iron foundries. He moved to Paris in 1829, divided part of his land into town lots, and constructed a grist mill in 1830. Capron named the town after the gypsum deposits, used to make plaster of Paris, being mined nearby. Paris is often referred to as the "Cobblestone Capital of Canada" because of many unique cobblestone buildings throughout town.

As part of the Grand Erie District School Board, Paris has two elementary schools: Paris Central Public School and North Ward School. Students then graduate onto Paris District High School, the regional secondary school with rigorous academic standards and home of the Paris Panthers. Notable alumni include former Olympian and Toronto Maple Leafs player Syl Apps, celebrity chef Ted Reader, and television producer of Degrassi Linda Schuyler.

Conveniently located off Hwy 2, connecting to Hwy 403, Paris, Ontario is only 15 minutes north of Brantford. Paris is serviced by the Greyhound Courier Express bus terminal. Located nearby is the Brantford VIA Rail Station and Brantford Municipal Airport. Paris has standard, limo, and accessible taxi services within the town and for the surrounding area. Most people living in Paris, either work in Paris or nearby cities such as Brantford, Cambridge, Hamilton and Kitchener Waterloo.

Downtown Paris has no shortage of shopping, dining, and entertainment options for residents and tourists alike. The surrounding area is great for hiking, cycling, jogging, fishing, and water activities on the Grand River. Willet Hospital services the town’s medical needs while the Paris Veterinary Clinic is accessible for you and your pets. Grocery stores, LCBO, The Beer Store and Wine Rackare all available in town. Enjoy a round of 18-holes at the Paris Grand Country Club, a swim at the Paris Community Pool and Splash Pad, or hit the gym at The Fit Effect.
